It began with the Mayflower landing at Thanksgiving.
Later that weekend, we attended the Jorgenson family Christmas and saw the kids' Great Grandma Muller.
We decorated our tree--freshly chopped from a nearby tree farm, by my darling James (Clark Griswold).
The next weekend, we saw Santa (the first time) at breakfast at the MN Zoo. At that time, Ellie asked for a dollhouse, William asked for a parking garage, and Joshua asked for a Disney "Cars" book.
Two weekends before Christmas, we attended an ECFE class where we made Gingerbread houses (more eating of candy then decorating...). The next day was busy--we went to the 8th floor holiday display (An Elf's Life) at Macy's and then attended the Holidazzle parade with my parents--G'ma & G'pa Jorgenson.
The following day, Monday the 14th, we had our scheduled appointment with Santa at the Mall of America. This time, Ellie asked for a "sitting" doll. William asked for a car transporter truck. And Joshua asked for a "daddy" garbage truck.
The last weekend before Christmas, the kids baked cookies with Grandma Jorgenson and later our family drove around looking at nearby Christmas lights/displays. We spent Christmas Eve at my parents' house with the kids' cousin Nate Jorgenson and their Uncles Joe and Mark and Aunt Jodi (who is expecting twin daughters this month!). Their Grandma Jorgenson dressed them up to perform the Christmas play and to sing Christmas carols. They were adorable. We attended Christmas Eve service at our local church: I cried during "O Holy Night"--the kids were so still, fixated on the beauty of the stage and the music. It was a perfect moment. I am so thankful for my beautiful family--truly a gift from God. I didn't want that moment to end. Four years ago, I prayed to God to just "let me see the future." I wanted to know--would we ever have children? God didn't show me the future, and I know now why He couldn't. The thought and sight of triplets might have made me fear the future and make different medical choices. But this was His plan for my family. And His plan, as always, was perfect.
Christmas Day was magical. The kids awoke to the gifts of Santa. They played with their new toys all morning and reveled in the joy of it all. We sang Happy Birthday to Jesus. The kids spontaneously broke into Christmas carols during the day--my favorite memory of this past month.
We hope all of you had a joyous Christmas as well. We had so much fun seeing so many friends and family the past six weeks--for brunches and dinners, family gatherings and mall visits. We wish we could've seen James' family as well, but it didn't happen this year. May 2010 be all that you hope for!
